Guy Bourdin

Did you know that there is a website devoted to Guy Bourdin's classic photos? The images on display are periodically changed and include selections from his old ad work, polaroids and the occasional video clip. I'm a big fan of his so I am a regular visitor. His photographs make the 1970's look like the chic, sexy, violent romp I'm almost certain it wasn't.

The good folks at BPMW had some nice things to say about the fall collection on their blog We Are The Market. Click on the link at the bottom of the page to see the post.

Fantastic Woman

This is my friend Anouk Morgan. Not only is she a beautiful human being she is also a talented photographer. She is based in Amsterdam but moves around like a fugitive from the law. One day soon she will be quite famous and I will say I knew her when she was only kind of famous.

I've Got Soul But I'm Not a Soldier

This is Justin Timberlake in the best Budweiser commercial ever. It is actually a clip from Southland Tales (2006).

Broke But Not Poor

No one ever said it was easy being long on style and short on means. In this case one must rely on creativity, and there is plenty of that to be had in (a handful) of indie rock show posters. Some are created by very talented artists and can be picked up on the cheap. As with most wall-hanging art, best results are achieved when framed.

Justice: Stress

Have you seen this video yet? I heard it was banned from French television. I like this video alot more than I should.

Bruce Davidson

Guitar Hero

Now that I've recently set on my way to becoming proficient at the guitar, I can't help feeling some kind of relief. I realize now more than ever how much I've admired those who could play, because of how expressive those chords can be, and honestly in part, simply because others admired them as well. Some time during the 20th century, the guitar trumped all other instruments in street cred, and became one of the most attractive forms of male creativity.
